A Bishopville woman, 61-year-old Bonnie Hackendorn, was arrested and charged with the murder of her boyfriend, 57-year-old David Shaulis, police say.
On Monday, around 9:30 pm, Maryland State police responded to the 12,000 Block of Shell Mill Road in Bishopville after they received a 911 call from a woman claiming her boyfriend had been shot. Upon arrival, authorities met Hackendorn at the home and later identified the defendant as the 911 caller.
Inside the home, Shaulis’ body was found with a gunshot wound, leading investigators to declare the death a homicide. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while Shaulis’ body was taken to the Chief Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy, according to the Maryland State Police.
Soon, Hackendorn was arrested and placed into the custody of the Worcester County Detention Center. The defendant was charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and other related firearm charges.
Hackendorn is currently being held without bail.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and the investigation remains wide open.
