A Texas man and secretary of the Ugly Man Cossacks motorcycle club will never walk free again after luring a father and son to their death.
On Aug. 13, a 19th State District Court judge handed 33-year-old Romi Frentescu a life term in prison for the shooting deaths of a rival motorcycle club member, Michael Davis Morris, 38, and his 18-year-old son, Braxton Johnson. After about an hour of deliberation, a jury found Frentescu guilty and convicted him of capital murder for killing more than one person during the commission of a criminal episode.
In October 2024, police officers responded to the intersection of Mackey Ranch Road and Old Moody Road in Waco, Texas, after several 911 calls and reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities found two gunshot victims. Morris was declared dead at the scene, while Johnson was taken to the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where he succumbed to his injuries.
A Veterans Affairs nurse, Dorothy Sanders, who had been passing by with her family, stopped and attempted to provide Morris with CPR, but was shocked when Frentescu approached her and threatened her life before he fled the scene in a pickup truck driven by his wife, Allysa Sevilla, 30.
“You need to stop doing that now. I need him to die. Don’t make me shoot you,” said Sanders, reported KWTX.
Both the defendant and Morris had been involved in a feud because both men belonged to rival motorcycle clubs. Morris was a member of the 1%ers Cossacks motorcycle club, which had split from the Ugly Man Cossacks. A family friend and eyewitness testified that on that fateful day, Frentescu had ridden his motorcycle in front of the victim’s home and revved his engine, which was meant as a provocation.
According to prosecutors, Morris followed the defendant to the intersection, with his son and a friend following behind in a truck. Morris believed he was heading into a fist fight with Frentescu. Instead, the defendant pulled out a 9mm Glock, shot Morris twice in the chest and back, before shooting his son, who had been running towards his dad, in the chest.
The couple was later arrested. Frentescu claimed he killed both men in self-defense after Morris pulled a knife on him and Johnson slugged him in the head. Witnesses testified otherwise, and authorities did not find any knife at the crime scene or visible bruises on the defendant, reported FOX 44 News.
Sevilla has not yet been indicted on the charges of capital murder and tampering with evidence.
