A family, including the father, Everton Thomas, 41, his wife Sherrie Parker, 41, and his son Deshawn Thomas, 22, was arrested and charged with the murder and dismemberment of 48-year-old Harold “Hal” Miller Jr., authorities say.
On June 12, 2025, Miller's family reported the father of six missing after they told authorities he was last known playing cards at Thomas’ home along the 2600 Block of Baird Boulevard in Camden.
Two days after the report was filed, investigators tracked the victim’s phone data and a surveillance video that showed Miller entering the defendants’ residence, followed by a single gunshot, reported the Camden County Office of the Prosecutor. Soon, the video footage also showed the elder Thomas coming out of the residence and moving Miller’s car to Pennsauken, where officers found the vehicle.
Miller was never seen leaving the residence again. Later authorities discovered Sherrie Parker and Deshawn Thomas had purchased a chainsaw, cleaning supplies, containers, and trash bags, while video footage showed the family making trips to several dumpsters with the trash bags and containers.
According to 10 Philadelphia, a search warrant was executed on the family’s property, where they found a loaded firearm, a missing single shell from a 10-round magazine, and bloodstains that were a match with the victim.
Soon, Parker and the younger Thomas were arrested in Camden. The same day, the elder Thomas was apprehended at the Port of Buffalo, New York, by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol as the defendant returned to the United States after he fled the country.
The motive for the killing remains unclear.
