A San Antonio man was sentenced to life in prison after shooting three patrons to death at an after-hours bar.

A Bexar County District Court Judge, Ron Rangel, handed 38-year-old Daniel Barragan a life term in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting death of Dan Edward Martinez Jr, 28, April Rodriguez, 32, and Mauro Rodriguez, 26. Barragan pleaded guilty and was convicted of three counts of capital murder.

On Aug. 15, 2021, a fight broke out between two female patrons of an illegal after-hours bar, Boom Boom Room, along the 1600 Block of S. New Braunfels Ave. After other patrons got involved, the fight moved outside the bar, where Barragan and another individual, Eduardo Delarosa, both retrieved firearms from their vehicles and started shooting.

According to NEWS4SA, video footage from Security cameras showed the defendant shooting into the crowd as people left the bar, while Delarosa shot his weapon into the air. As a result, April Rodriguez and Martinez were pronounced dead at the scene, while Mauro Rodriguez succumbed to his injury after he was rushed to the hospital.  Two other patrons were injured but survived the ordeal.

Barragan fled the scene, but San Antonio police arrested him several days later during a traffic stop.

Meanwhile, Delarosa pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
